Going to Miami this thursday, what is important to bring/have in mind?

What should I pack, how do you think the weather is gonna be like? where should I shop, I'm staying at the Grand Beach Hotel on Collins Avenue btw. And is there any dress-code? (I'm 15) and is it weird wearing shorts and boots in Miami... I know that's normal in california, but I don't know if it is in Miami. And what to do if it rains? like things to do in Miami when the weather is bad. Oh, and also, the weather reports are saying it rains all the time, but people I know live there say it isn't that bad, that it's just showers. Can you help me here? haha.

There's not much of a dress code in Miami. Most people tend to dress a little more laid back and casual since most are on vacation. I'd suggest bringing a few items you can dress up or down just in case you want or need to be a little dressed up one night. It is weird to wear shorts with boots, no one dresses like that anywhere in Florida. Plus it'll be way too hot for boots, your legs and feet will sweat like crazy and it'll look ridiculous. The footwear of choice in Florida seems to almost always be some kind of sandal or open toed shoe. Pack a bathing suit, sunscreen, sunglasses, an umbrella, and when packing clothes and shoes, make sure they're appropriate for warm weather, as it's still pretty hot here.



As far as the rain, it does seem to rain quite often in Miami, but many times they are quick showers and don't last very long. There's plenty to do and places to go in case you suddenly get caught in the rain. There are shops and restaurants nearly everywhere, so you'll have plenty to do even if it does start raining suddenly. Just bring an umbrella if you're that concerned.
