Do you get diseases in miami?

I want to go to miami for a week in my gap year, and i was wondering if you can get any particular diseases there? Like things that you dont get in england? And are there any dangerouse animals, that you also dont get in england?Do you get diseases in miami?
I was going to say this is a silly question, but it is never silly to be careful about one's health.

Miami is a tropical climate, a bit different than the UK.

If you are staying in the city of Miami, and not venturing out into the everglades, you have nothing to worry about. The water is safe to drink, and all that. Your biggest worry is the crime you would see in any large city, no different than London really.

There are poisonous snakes in Florida, but not found in the urban areas.

Mosquitoes are in florida, but not often found near the beach (the wind is too much for them).

You will be fine.

If you are going into the everglades, a different story. Lots of bugs/snakes/gators.

But in Miami? You are fine, enjoy yourself, and have some good cuban food.
