I live in Houston, Tx. I have worked in Miami, and all over Florida. Hurricanes come through Miami even more often then Houston. Most of the ones that go through Florida, or the panhandle are smaller categories that may not threated many human lives, but can be a nightmare on property. Not too long ago i got a chance to meet a lot of Katrina evacuees, as well as going through the scare of Rita just a few weeks after. It is horrifying to see some of the effects these things can have on entire cities, and even states. Do not listen to everything they say on TV, for it is just a depiction of the worse possible, whether it is scenario, or what actually happened. Miami is so beautiful, that you will enjoy yourself, and the possibility of Hurricanes will only be a small memory compared to everything else you will experience there. Enjoy

uh ... yeah! If a hurricane is coming, move all of your outdoor possessions indoors. Board up your windows. It may be adviseable to get out of the way and go to a hotel or family member in a safer area ... usually farther north in florida.
Yes...lots of hurricanes. Make sure you have your house ready. Ahead of time, buy lots of water and non-perishable foods. May want to get a generator... just in case. Always board up windows and lock doors.Do hurricanes occur often in Miami area?
yes, the hurrcane season is from june to november. miami is a hot spot hurricanes. pay attention to warnings and give yourself a lot of time to evacuate.
