I live in southwest miami and I hate it. WAYYY too suburban for my taste. ew. You're kind of in luck because you can find almost anytihng afforable in miami right about now, at least depending on what you consider affordable. Personally, I would try to move east of the intracoastal (If you look on a map, it's that little island thing off the coast of miami. Bal harbour is SO nice, but it's def like one of the "non-affordable" places if you know what I mean. I LOVE aventura, Miami Beach, Sunny Isles, SoBe, Key Biscayne is so hot, Brickell and stuff like that. It's all very nice around there. Coral Gables is BEAUTIFUL too and it's soo ritzy if you're looking for affordability, don't look here haha. Kendall is where I live it's a very nice neighborhood too but it's a suburb, it's quiet, there's lots of stuff like restaurants, malls, shopping centers and grocery stores nearby but it's just not my taste. I like big buildings, and the vibe of the city. Plus it's far from the water. just stay away from lil haiti, lil havana, liberty city, and ew homestead.

To be specific, I would TRY to live EAST of US 1 ;) around where US 1 intersects 72nd (Sunset Drive), that's coral gables, I LOVE IT. University of Miami is also right there at that intersection as well. It's a private university, really good top tier btw. They Have Ransom Everglades and Gulliver Prep, those are like the two best schools in Miami. They are private and I guess kinda pricey (around 30k a year) but they have financial aid and other random crap like that.

GOOD LUCK!
