In a few months my 13 yr old daughter and I will be spending a day and night in Miami before our cruise leaves and I was wondering how safe it would be for us to walk in Miami? I don't mean walk the streets at night, I just mean go from our hotel a few blocks to grab a bite and see a few things in the afternoon. We are staying at the Radisson on Biscayne Blvd and according to Google Earth it looks like there are a few places right in the few closest blocks where we could eat on a more modest budget rather than overspending in the hotel dining room. Any advice?"
So now I want to know if anyone has any suggestions for places to eat or cool things for us to see that can be walked to and see in a few hours in that area? How do people mostly get around in that area? Cab? Subway? Is it expensive? Thanks :)Safe things to do in Miami?
If you are staying at the Radisson on 16th and Biscayne, you are about a mile from Bayside shopping center, I wouldn't walk to it late at night, but there are several little outdoor type restaurants right on the water at Bayside, as well as the food court, live music most nights, and the usual mall shops. The new performing arts center is located between your hotel and the mall, and I can't make any specific recommendations, but I know a lot of restaurants have opened in that stretch. It would be probably $20 in cab fare (maybe less) to go over to South Beach which is also nice for strolling and eating. We don't have a subway system here, we do have a Metrorail and people mover, I know there is a stop just near your hotel, from there you could also take the transit to the Museum of Science, Viscaya Palace and Gardens, or Coconut Grove, but for the grove you would then have to catch a bus from the transit station. You can also get off at the Coral Gables Station and catch the trolley into downtown Coral Gables, lots of great restaurants and shops. Or, ride the transit to the South Miami Station, cross US1 to downtown South Miami, very pedestrian friendly, good restaurants, etc. If you are really into the mall scene, you can also take the transit to Dadeland North or South, and hit the mall...Safe things to do in Miami?
i know the radisson very well. it is quite safe to walk there. its probably close enough to walk to bayside shops. its like an outdoor mall and there are lots of places to eat and shop. no subway here, you can take a cab to miami beach and its about $30 one way if you want to visit there. dont worry its safe near the radisson.Safe things to do in Miami?
The safest thing you can do in Miami is to LEAVE.Safe things to do in Miami?
It is a generally safe area. You are close to the 15th St. People Mover station. (One block south on Biscayne %26amp; look left %26amp; you'll see the station) The people mover is a free overhead trolley that will take you to within a few blocks of anywhere downtown. I would suggest you take it just a short distance to Bayside station %26amp; there exit %26amp; visit Bayside -- across the street -- a shopping restaurant, entertainment center with a Hard Rock Cafe %26amp; numerous fast food %26amp; other casual restaurants. Then you can take it back.
