How is the University of Miami?

Most things about University of Miami sounds perfect to me: the marine biology program, the campus, the opportunities, and the clubs. There are just a couple problems... I've heard that most of the student body is stuck up, superficial, and mean. I'm not like that at all and I want to have good friends in college. Also, it's insanely expensive and I would only be able to go there if I got really good scholarships... Do you think it's worth it and are the rumors about the students true?How is the University of Miami?
"The U" as it is called has its definite pluses and minuses. First its a wealthy, Jewish kids school in the middle of a poor neighborhood. Quite like many other private schools like University of Southern California and Columbia University. Why this is important because you can look down the street and see the disparity of wealth between you the student body and students that cannot afford to attend Miami. I specifically could not live with that. Many of the students come from wealthy Florida families. Go to the student parking lot and you will see how the students "roll." The student population is not pulled from the highest academic echelons. Top academically oriented students go to Univ. of Florida, FSU and FAMU. So don't expect to have serious debates about the differences between Marxism and Neo Liberalism, its not that kind of school. However, its football tradition, started around 1975 or so has become quite good. The football players come from the local area and have a personal love for the school that is pretty strong. People in Miami love their "U." You will see lots of stuck up students and many that are not. You just have to keep grounded and be yourself.How is the University of Miami?
a lot of the students there are certainly rich and party a lot. however, miami also has good academics. as with every school, you will find all sorts of people there. i don't think it's worth the money if you have to take out tons of loans, however. you should look into other schools by the water to study marine biology if that's your goal.How is the University of Miami?
The University of Miami is an extremely nice school with a beautiful campus. I doubt that the rumors about the students are true. Usually rumors are just that...rumors. The marine biology program is supposed to be really good. That's my opinion anyway.How is the University of Miami?

In any case, a Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology would qualify you only for counting worms in fish guts.
I think it sound awesome. The beach, the parties... you can't really take anyone's advice about it, you just have to see for yourself.
