What are the neat sightseeing things to do in Miami, for people in their 50's; and what is a good hotel to base from for a few days?
Thank you,What are the neat sightseeing things in Miami?
i will suggest pelican hotel on ocean drive and get a suite overlooking the ocean and ocean drive. from there you can sip a nice drink and see the action in the strip without actually being down there. next i would go for a walk right before dusk to south pointe park and see the beautiful colors walk from the rocks down to the entrance and you will see a beautiful skyline of miami, fisher island, and the beach, it is truly magical, you might want to eat at smith and wollensky and get a table outside. in the early morning you can walk along lummus park on ocean drive and continue it behind the hotels on collins till you reach 21st if you like you can keep walking on the board walk till you get to fountainbleu and have lunch at their outdoor rest. you can take a bus back or a cab. next night you can go over to lincoln road which is fairly close, you can walk through washington and see the seedy life forms which can be fun and when you reach lincoln make a left. there you will find much to do. i suggest dinner at meat market or quattro. you can listen a a bit of live jazz at van dykes. As for the zoo and the museum I would not bother since we hardly ever get good collections or presentations. no MOMA here or fine arts museum that is truly worth it. Also the pelican gives you free beach chairs and an umbrella i spend most of my day there just relaxing. if you like a drive to coconut grove is nice maybe stop by vizcaya, personally i love matheson hammock and the rest. there for dusk dining it is lovely and you experience another great area of miami. What are the neat sightseeing things in Miami?
Geography for 1st time visitors:
Most visitors want to stay on Miami Beach, a city on a barrier island of the same name off the coast of Miami %26amp; connected to it by several causeways. "South Beach" is the southernmost 2 miles or so of Miami Beach. It contains the best known beaches, shopping streets, clubs, dozens of hotels of varying size, quality, price %26amp; ambience and the historic "art deco" district.
To be in the center of or within walking distance of the center of SoBe you want to stay somewhere below 23d street (address number under 2300) and on or within a block of Washington or Collins Aves., or Ocean drive. You don't need a car if you stay in SoBe.
ms bell has a good list of attractions, but you'll need a car or a LOT of patience %26amp; transit savvy to get to them. The 4 seasons is close to downton Miami, not in Miami Beach.
Suggest you visit various travel sites like Trip Advisor or look at some guide books %26amp; then post specific questions. What are the neat sightseeing things in Miami?
Some great attractions to visit are Parrot Jungle Island (I highly recommend this attraction), Monkey Jungle, Everglades Alligator Farm, Miami Seaquarium, Biscayne Bay and sighteeing cruises, Everglades National Park (I highly recommend this attraction), Miami Zoo, Dolphin Mall for shopping, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, and Miami Art Museum. I'd recommend staying at The Four Seasons in Miami. The service is excellent and the staff is friendly. They also have a good pool. What are the neat sightseeing things in Miami?
