So, I am leaving my small, very cold town tomorrow morning, and I will be arriving in Miami on Monday. Looking for some advice from those who have been there, and maybe some of the locals about some of the best stuff to do while there. We already are planning on taking a tour of the Everglades, and going to South Beach. What else should we do?Any locals want to fill me in on some of the best things to do in Miami, FL?
Villa Vizcaya - Once the bayfront estate of James Deering it has beautiful gardens and an eclectically-decorated mansion.
Parrot Jungle Island - Parrots do tricks and there are some very interesting exhibits.
Bayside Marketplace - shopping plaza on the bay with music and you can take boat rides from there
Seaquarium - like Sea World.
Crandon Beach - my favorite beach in Miami, more naturalistic setting, and there's an old lighthouse
Historical Museum - with sound and light
Architecture on Brickell Avenue - that's where the building with the palm tree was filmed on Miami Vice
Spanish Monastery - the oldest building in the country. It's an authentic 12th-century monastery that was disassembled and reassembled in Miami.

watch the sun rise at the pointe in south beach. the sun starts to rise 40 min before the weather channel's sunrise time so get to the beach then. the point is a strip of rocks that extends out into the ocean where the ocean meets the bay. if you map south pointe drive and ocean drive, zipcode 33139 u will see where to enter the beach. u want to sit out on the rocks to watch the sun rise, its beautiful. the best place for a south beach sunset is at the park over the water on purdy ave. purdy ave is short so its not hard to figure out (also zipcode 33139) must hit bar is wet willies ( go upstairs for the best drink selection / no dresscode or cover) renting a wave runner is also lots of fun. google boucher brothers if you want to do this. they do book up quick for the day so get to the stand to reserve your wave runner at like 10am. have funAny locals want to fill me in on some of the best things to do in Miami, FL?
