Things to do near Miami International Airport?

I'm flying into MIA at 6 PM one evening. The next morning, I'm leaving on a flight to Costa Rica. What can I do from 6 PM - 10 PM in Miami? I won't meet up with my group until the next morning, so I want to stay safe as a single female. NO BARS/CLUBS.

Can I take a scenic walk someplace close?

Any fun (and safe) places to shop?

Any strips with good restaurants?

I'm hoping for something relatively close to my hotel near MIA.Things to do near Miami International Airport?
Do not go outside the airport area alone as this is mostly warehouses and deserted after dark. I suggest taking a taxi to Coral Gables and have them drop you off at the corner of Ponce de Leon Blvd and Miracle Mile (Starbucks is right here). From there you can walk to the boutiques, shops, and restaurants. A nice place to eat is Ortaniques on the Mile which serves good Caribbean food. Or, Miss Saigon Bistro, Maroosh, City Cellar, Grazianos, Randazzos, etc. (some have websites) You can also find many sushi, steak, Italian, Vietnamese, wine bars, etc. within 4 blocks north or south and from Le Jeune Rd to Douglas Rd (west %26amp; east). There's an independant bookstore Book %26amp; Books which is located in a beautiful spanish bldg and has a nice little cafe. They also have speakers, events, and live music. The book store is expensive but worth visiting if you like reading. The 1st Friday of every month is Gallery Night and you can visit the art galleries by walking or trolley (free). It is a nice way to spend the evening. Check the sites below for a list of stores, restaurants, and events. For incredible but expensive shopping you can take a taxi to Merrick Park (Nordstrom, Bebe, Roberto Cavalli, Tiffanys, Burberry, Coach, Gucci, Lacoste, etc.) They also have restaurants. It's just a high-end mall so for me the downtown Coral Gables area is a better choice for things to do.Things to do near Miami International Airport?
you will not find safe walking or shopping nearby unless you take a cab. i suggest you hop a cab to the "miracle mile" in coral gables. there is shopping there and you can get a decent (albiet expensive) dinner. don't hit south beach or the grove if you're not into the bar/club scene. if you try anything further away you'll spend your whole evening in a cab.
MiaMom has it down. Downtown Gables is probably the safest neighborhood in SE Florida.Things to do near Miami International Airport?
There's a beautiful Mall near by called The Dolphin Mall.
You could go to the Dophin Mall but I believe the shuttle will not work at 6 PM, it could take you about 30 min to get there by taxi and maybe $14 each way. The mall is nice. After that I do not believe there is anything around you could do. If you stay on Leujune Rd there are some movies near the Crowne PlazaThings to do near Miami International Airport?
Well Miami Club and Bar district is just about the safest part of the city. Miami Beach is very safe, alot of people and very safe environment. There is nothing walking distance from the airport. The airport is only 6 miles west of Downtown Miami, you could go to Bay Side. Dolphin mall is close to the airport you could go there. Coral Gables is nice you could go there for dinner. Miracle Mile is nice. Miami Beach is about a $30 cab ride and alot of fun, you could have a nice time on Lincoln road and Washington Ave, Collins Ave.

What ever you do take a cab where ever you go.

Miami is a very safe place as long as you dont get lost in the bad areas. Miami Beach, The busy areas of Downtown Miami, most of Coral Gables and Dolphin Mall are all very safe places.
