It depends on what kind of beach you're looking for. If you want a beach with a lot of urban activity, then it's South Beach. If you want a more natural kind of beach but with recreational facilities, I would suggest Crandon Park.

In any case, you have to go to South Beach to experience the architecture, small hotels with fanciful designs and painted in ice cream colors. You could also visit Bayside Marketplace, which is essentially a tourist-oriented shopping center on the water. From there you can also rent a boat for a sailing/fishing trip.

There's also Parrot Jungle Island which has shows with parrots that ride bicycles, etc. and a lot of interesting exhibits. Vizcaya is a beautiful estate that was once owned by James Deering. It has exceptionally beautiful gardens and an eclectically decorated mansion. The Historical Museum is also very interesting.

You may also want to check out the Art and Design Village which has a lot of interesting shops, and Little Havana for Latin culture. Little Haiti is also interesting, but that's where you may want to be a bit careful. There's also the Spanish Monastery an actual 12-century monastery from Spain that was shipped over block by block. It's the oldest building in the US. Then, of course, there's the Keys.Orlando to miami.... recommendations on what to do?
We are adults and loved DisneyWorld. We have been many times. It a must see if you stopping through Orlando.A 14 year old may find a few things like the rides interesting and few other things such if they enjoy watching shows.Animal kindgom has a little Amusement Park , Hollywood Studios, and the water parks are more for the older crowd.

Epcot is more for adults unless your 14 year is more into science type of stuff.Universal Studios is more of a teen screen and Sea World is right near by.I also recommend the Nickelodeon Suites Hotel. They have so much going on that adults could slip out on their own to enjoy some adult time without the kids and they won't even know you slipped away. Most of the kids don't want to leave once they there and want to aleast spend a hole day just enjoying all the activities going on.It is kind more enjoyable for a teen then playing Mickey Mouse bingo on a Disney resort pool side.

Discovery Cove in Orlando is really cool. You can swim with dolphins, snorkel tropical reefs, and explore underwater shipwrecks kind of stuff.AS for Miami do research on what beach you choice some are clothing optional and some are for adults. Some places you may not want your 14 year just wondering around .I would also recommend some where in the Keys.Orlando to miami.... recommendations on what to do?
We live in Florida and have been to Disney.Disney has rides for older kids like space mountain. They also have two water parks which is great for older kids.Hollywood suites also has some good rides for older kid rides.Epcot is probably kind of boring and Not much that would interest them. There is Nickelodeon Hotel not far from Universal Studios .Not much for adults but seems to be great for kids. We live in Clearwater not far from Tampa which has a Bush Gardens.About an hour from Orlando.Clearwater Beach is really nice and kind of quiet.Never been to Miami.
