Serious answers only. What keeps U.S. economy afloat? Please read?

Had been months I hadn't checked rentals in Craigslist and decided to take a look at commercial properties. I had already looked through 5 pages of 100 posts each when I thought I should check for dates since I might be looking at some posted weeks ago. What a surprise to see they're all from yesterday and today alone!

Admittedly these listings include three large counties, but seeing so many office space, shared office space (many of them in lawyers businesses), warehouses, land offered for sale and swapped_yes people do cross-post in other categories in Craigslist for better chances_and all types of commercial buildings, all of this for rent only; the ones for sale are under another heading of course. So, how has this affected the economy? Some of those places have been empty for months and even years and I just don't see them being occupied any time soon.

Admittedly also, at least in Florida, Medicare is probably the greatest employer. There are plenty of illegalities done through, and with, Medicare, and then there are also all those infamous pain clinics, hundreds of so springing up in less than a year according to the Sheriff of Broward county, and all of this accounting for thousands been employed. Yes, ironically illegal business does employ people!!!! But aside from this there is really no other industry, the next on the list being tourists which is all but dead in Florida except of course for the type of tourists looking, again, for illegal things in Miami Beach, so much so that many of them are supposedly losing thousands of dollars when their credit cards are used in certain bars and clubs!

To top it all, real estate is stuck for who knows how many years to come. I'm sure the only places where homes are being sold legitimately without any fraudulent means or mortgages been given out to poor people who cannot pay for them, which is how all this mess started, is somewhere in the middle of the country and a few other states in the northeast, and only because salaries and wages up there are still only dreamed of in some states like Florida.
