Drivng from Miami to Washington DC.... things to see and do?

We're going to be driving from Miami to Washington DC in the 2-3 weeks prior to New Years. Any tips on which route to take, places worth stopping at/detouring to/etc? Equally as important - any places not worth stopping at??Drivng from Miami to Washington DC.... things to see and do?
Yes, go through the tunnel/bridge to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. It cost $10 when I went there. Also, consider the Outer Banks. You can take the Cedar Island Ferry to Okracoke Island and then drive north to Nags Head. Visit St. Augustine, Florida and Amelia Island just before the SC line. Forget Orlando and visit Charleston, SC and Savannah, Ga instead. Near Norfolk go to Captain Georges Seafood buffet. It will blow your mind and your wallet. Use I-95 only when necessary (such as Jacksonville) and try to follow the coast. Hilton Head is beautiful but mostly a closed community. Myrtle Beach is overdeveloped. I prefer North Myrtle Beach. See the Battle Ship North Carolina in Wilmington, NC. Drive along Hwy 17 if you have time. Have fun!!! It is a beautiful drive if you do it right and have the time. When I travel to a different place, I call AAA and ask for the tour books, it will tell you good places to stay and they will give you a trip tik. If you or someone you know belongs, call them. Don't know much about north but know the south. When you go to the Kennedy Space Center make sure you stop in Titusville and go to Dixie Crossroads for lunch or dinner, best seafood you will ever eat. Stop by St. Augustine before you leave Fl and visit the old castles and graveyards, then swing into Charleston for one of the best times you will have. Can't go much further than that. HAVE FUN. By the way Titusville/Cape Kennedy has a beach that is somewhat famous it is called PlayaLinda, meaning beach beautiful. If you go all the way to the end (it is incredibly beautiful and quiet, it is on the Canaveral seashore) there is a nude bathing area. Quite an experience, been there for years, my son (23) and his fiance recently went and thought it a hoot.
